What are Soil Amendments?
Well, a good way to describe it is, when a soil is missing or requiring certain element('s) or status('s) for a particular living organism (plant, peat, fungi, bacteria) to thrive. It will require amending to match your plants growing needs to that of the soil and help build a healthy rhizoshpere. Most meals and minerals help change the structure and texture of the soils or mediums. A soil test gives you a good benchmark to build off of and after that you are ready to start amending.
Plant Meals
These Amendments are derived from plant byproducts, either dried, pelletized, or ground to a certain size. Feeds the micro organics; which then feed on the media to create nitrogen and some other essential elements. Great for covering your Micro Nutrients.
Animal Meals
These Amendments are derived from animal byproducts, most need to be be completely dried or pulverized. Pelletized and fines are available. Also feeds the micro organics; which then feed on the media to create nitrogen and some other essential elements. Great for covering your Micro Nutrients.
Minerals
These Amendments cover the needs for the Most Macro and some Micro Nutrients, all thou some are for Status balancing (pH, Alkalinity, EC, CEC) and microbial growth enhancement or even presence. Pelletized and fines are available.
